Clean Clothes Campaign Launched in Poland
On December 10, 2009 Clean Clothes Polska (CCP) was launched at a corporate social responsibility conference at the Copernicus University in Torun, Poland. The launch was attended by several hundred students, many dignitaries from the university and members of the Polish press.
The Clean Clothes Polska coalition consists of four Polish organisations;
- Karat is a gender rights network and will be hosting the secretariat of CCP,
- Polish Humanitarian Organisation does educational projects on human rights and has been involved with the CCC's Fashion Colleges Project,
- Grupa eFTe organizes actions to promote social and economic justice, and
- the Polish Green Network works to raise awareness about environmental issues.
CCP will raise public awareness in Poland on working conditions in the garment industry through educational materials and workshops. With urgent appeals and campaigns CCP will put pressure on (in particular Polish) brands to take responsibility for workers' rights in their supply chains. CCP will participate in the international CCC Better Bargain Campaign and support the Asian Floor Wage Campaign.
