The Manifesto, co-developed by young people, workers, Clean Clothes Campaign and allies, sets out core principles that act as guiding stars for a Just Transition to a renewed future of fashion that values people and restores nature, not one that exploits both for profit.

Fashioning a Just Transition

Imagine a just fashion system that puts people before profits. Where no one is exploited and the planet isn’t wrecked for cheap clothes. We can make it happen – but only if we collectively stand up for our rights to a decent living and a liveable future. Our manifesto outlines our shared vision for a just fashion system that protects and creates dignified, climate-resilient jobs on a healthy planet.

Poor living standards. Rising global temperatures. Gendered and racialised violence. Ecological collapse. Extractive tech. Escalating Wars. The biggest challenges of our time are rooted in the exploitation of people and the planet for the profit of a few. In these challenging times, the need to come together has never been more urgent.

We seek endorsement from social and environmental movements, civil society, trade unions, labour rights organisations, local community groups, youth groups and allies.

Endorsing the Fashioning a Just Transition Manifesto means that your organisation supports and agrees with the principles in the Manifesto and commits to take some action – large or small - to help bring about the change that is foreseen in the Manifesto. By endorsing the FJT Manifesto, your organisation becomes part of a growing social movement for change in the textile and garment industry.
