Squeezed Dry. Pricing pressure in the global fashion industry
Fashion’s sustainability commitments ring hollow when set against the prices major brands actually pay their suppliers. Despite inflation and rising costs across global supply chains, sourcing prices for basic garments such as cotton T‑shirts have barely increased in nominal terms and have declined in real terms over the past two decades. This Public Eye and Clean Clothes Campaign report from May 2026 for the first time analyses exclusive trade data to lift the veil on garment brands' and retailers' pricing policy.
