Financial Coordinator / Controller

3-4 days per week, upon consultation. Based in Amsterdam, starting as soon as possible

Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) is dedicated to improving working conditions and supporting the empowerment of workers - most of them women - in the global garment and sportswear industry. The CCC global network consists of more than 230 trade unions and NGO’s, both in consumer and production countries, which are committed to a shared Global Strategic Framework and cooperate in global working groups, as well as through national and regional coalitions. The role

As financial coordinator you will be responsible for the financial management and accounting operations of the organisation. You are the all-round controller, making our financial systems fit for a vibrant global network, overseeing all our financial operations. You will oversee the various grants that support the CCC work and monitor the expenditure against the specific donor requirements, as well as the organisational financial goals. Together with the grant managers you ensure timely, coherent and complete reporting to donors. You will advice the bookkeeper regarding the design of the financial administration to comply with donor requirements. You will support staff with the development of new project proposals, and are responsible for the submission of budgets. With regard to the organisational financial monitoring, you will write financial reports and prognosis reports to the board and monitor the timely spending of grants. You will actively report risks and opportunities based on analysis of financial information from the accounting system and the organisational financial policies.

Tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Financial project reports for donors
  • Financial analysis and monitoring reports for the board
  • Project administration, based on Twinfield accounting system
  • Contribution to applications to (new) donors, writing of budgets for (new) donors
  • Preparing the organisational annual budget and financial annual report
  • Control the allocation of costs to donors
  • Coordinate and control financial reports from partner organisations and grant beneficiaries
  • Lead the implementation of streamlining and efficiencies in our financial processes
  • Train and support staff where necessary
  • Coordinate periodic meetings of budget holders and grant managers


We ask:

  • At least 5 years experience in a similar role and organisational set-up
  • Experience in project administration in an international organisation with various income sources and donors is a strong plus
  • Experience in risk management and donor compliance
  • Experience in EU grants
  • Familiarity with Richtlijn 650 annual reporting
  • A critical approach to financial processes with an eye for improvements
  • Experience in working within a global network is a plus
  • Strong English and Dutch language skills, both speaking and writing
  • Ability to maintain focus in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work in a structured and accurate manner (also under pressure)
  • A team player who is comfortable within a non-hierarchical structure

We offer:

  • A dynamic job in a non-hierarchical organisation in which all staff earn the same salary, within an inspiring international network.
  • A temporary contract of 1 year for 3-4 days (24-32 hours) a week. Upon satisfactory performance and sufficient finances, a permanent contract could follow.
  • The salary level for 2025 is set at € 4.122,- on the basis of 36 hours a week (full-time) plus 8% holiday allowance. For this position this means € 2.748/€ 3.664, - gross per month for 24/32 hours (3/4 days), plus the holiday allowance. Please note that, due to our principle of equality, the salary is not negotiable.
  • A fully paid-for pension plan, € 36 net telephone allowance, general net allowance 1% of gross pay, contribution towards trade union membership and reimbursement of commuting costs (up to a fixed amount).
  • 5 weeks holidays plus the days between Christmas and New Year.


About Schone Kleren Campagne / Clean Clothes Campaign:

The organisation hosts two teams: the International Office (IO), which supports the CCC global network, and the Dutch Schone Kleren Campagne (SKC), which coordinates CCC activities in the Netherlands. These two teams are supported by IT, HR, Fundraising, Grant Management and Finance specialists. Most employees work in the Amsterdam office, and some in the Brussels office. In total, the organisation employs 27 staff within one legal entity (Stichting Schone Kleren Campagne). The organisation has no Executive Director; decision-making is based on consensus and non-hierarchical principles, within a clearly defined framework of self-steering teams. The coordination of organisational matters is performed by a Cross Team Body.

The candidate needs to have residence and work permit for the Netherlands. The position is based in Amsterdam and partial work from home is allowed.
